Rembetiko 1983. The great Sotiria Leonardou sings "To dixty" ("the net") and co-wrote the story with Kostas Ferris. The title of the song is a metaphor of Greece's involvement in a civil war, right after world war ii, between December 1944 and October 1949, in part because of foreign machinations. Kostas Ferris directed and Stavros Ksarhakos wrote the music. Takis Zervoulakos was the cinematographer.

Walter Lassally won the Oscar for the cinematography, Mikis Theodorakis wrote the music and Michael Cacoyannis directed. Based on a novel by Nikos Kazantzakis. Shot on the island of Crete.

The great Melina Mercouri plays "the prostitute who has no price", does the singing, and subsequently became the Minister of Culture for Greece between 1981 and 1989. The great Manos Hadjidakis wrote, the Oscar winning and immortal music "Ta paidia tou Peiraia". Jacques Natteau was responsible for the great close-ups of Melina. I was just informed Jacques passed away this April. He was married to Yvonne Furneaux ("La Dolce Vita"). One of the all time greats.

The great Alekos Sakellarios directed and co-wrote the story with Hristos Giannakopoulos.
