Well I need some outside opinion on the documentary I made for History Day this year. The theme is "Triumph and Tragedy." Made in iMovie by a sophomore in high school.

This fascinating, brilliant 20-minute video narrates the history of the "Amen Break," a six-second drum sample from the b-side of a chart-topping single from 1969. This sample was used extensively in early hiphop and sample-based music, and became the basis for drum-and-bass and jungle music -- a six-second clip that spawned several entire subcultures. Nate Harrison's 2004 video is a meditation on the ownership of culture, the nature of art and creativity, and the history of a remarkable music clip.

In 1976 four young men from ruined, post-industrial Manchester, England went to see the Sex Pistols. They formed a band, Joy Division. Three years later it was a matter of art, life and death. This is a short video documentary which came from an enhanced audio CD by the late musician/keyboardist Wesley Willis, who passed away in August 2003 of leukemia. Although some people were critical of Wesley, nobody can deny that he was a special individual with unique talent and a way with words all his own. You are sorely missed, Wesley -- keep rockin' up there in Heaven.
